Characteristics and Work Conditions in Informal Economy Establishments - 2012.

Characteristics and Work Conditions in Informal Economy Establishments in the Palestinian Territory

This study aims at providing information on the situation of workers in informal economy establishments in livestock and poultry activities, and manufacturing (garment, footwear and food industries) in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. The study looks at working conditions, occupational health and safety, and social protection, and compares actual working conditions with the rights stipulated in the Palestinian Labor Law no 7 of the year 2000. It also tries to determine the underlying causes for invisible economic activities, and ways to make them visible and organized, in addition to formulating priority programmatic and policy interventions to improve the circumstances and situation of informal economy workers through converting it into a formal economy capable of generating income, and productive and protected job opportunities.
