The Labor Ministry holds a workshop to discuss the last draft law on union organizing
Ramallah 20/03/2018 – On March 18th, the Ministry of Labor invited a number of unionists, representatives of the trade union movement, and specialized human rights organizations to discuss amendments of the draft law on union organizing during a workshop held at the Ministry in Ramallah.
Participants submitted a number of comments related to the importance of protecting trade union freedoms, particularly the right to organize, ensuring that trade union pluralism is guaranteed by the law, as well as comments concerning mechanisms for establishing trade unions and building a democratic trade union movement based on integrity and transparency, which serves workers’ interests and protect their rights.
At the end of the workshop, which lasted nearly four hours, the Ministry of Labor asked participants to send any additional comments in writing to the Ministry.
In this regard, the Democracy and Workers’ Rights Center plans to hold a meeting to review the draft law proposed by the Ministry of Labor and prepare a final alternative draft law in order to submit it to the Ministry.
