24 female and male youth trained in Gaza on advocacy campaigns
Gaza – 01/11/2018 The Democracy and Workers’ Rights Center, in cooperation with the Committee for the Defense of Graduates in the Gaza Strip, concluded 3-day training course yesterday about advocacy and lobbying campaigns. The training was attended by 24 female and male youth graduates seeking job opportunities.
The first day of the training course addressed general information about lobbying and advocacy campaigns, goal of the campaign & its elements, mechanisms to organize campaigns to support graduates’ issues, and mechanisms to establish campaign’s team. During the second day, participants were trained on advocacy, mechanisms to mobilize advocates to support issues of graduates and youth, and networking with advocates. On the last day of training, DWRC contributed in building the capacities of participants on social dialogue and its goal, mechanisms of dialogue, how to form a dialogue team, skills required, and obstacles facing the advocacy team and how to find solutions.
Shadi Naqleh, one of the trainees said: “during the training course we received skills regarding lobbying and advocacy campaigns, and how to manage campaigns”. He added: “we identified basic demands of graduates and developed an action plan in order to achieve these demands”.
In the coming period, trainees will start implementing the plan they developed during the training course. This plan aims to mobilize youth graduates to advocate for their rights that were guaranteed in international and local laws and regulations.
