DWRC’s current projects

  • Partners for Equity, Partners for change, funded by the European Union.
  • Core support 2021 – 2023 for DWRC, funded by the UNDP. The project’s objective is to support DWRC’s strategies for 2020-2023 to build a Palestinian social movement capable of influencing policies and achieving change with regard to securing the right to decent work. Outcome 1 of the project: representativeness and the bargaining power of the independent trade unions strengthened to protect and promote the right to freedom of association and the right to organize, outcome 2: The representation and bargaining power of women workers in the West Bank and Gaza Strip has been strengthened, outcome 3: Labour law for private sector workers respecting basic rights has been adopted, and outcome 4: Strengthened operational capacity related to the management of financial resources (incl. accounting, internal financial control and good governance and self-adherence to labour law) and human rights based approach (HRBA).   • Gender Equality in the Economic Sphere: Our Right, Our priority, funded by the European Union. The project is implemented in partnership with PWWSD, COSPE & EducAid. The project aims at Enhancing Palestinian CSOs engagement in and contribution to advancing gender equality in Palestine, in particular women’s economic rights, through strengthening the autonomy and capacities of 30 women CSOs in addressing labour and economic rights of women, including young women and women with disabilities (WWDs) with their communities, and increasing women’s CSOs initiatives in influencing at local and national level for creating an enabling environment for women’s economic empowerment.   • Promoting workers’ rights to occupational health and safety funded by Katholische Zentralstelle fur Entwicklungshilfe. The projects seek to promote decent working conditions in the Palestinian territories, and among the objectives: objective 1: employers demonstrably comply with occupational safety and health legislation in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, objective 2: the capacity of trade unions to stop violations related to occupational safety and health rights have been strengthened, and objective 3: DWRC has contributed to an improvement of the legal framework and partnerships to advance occupational safety and health rights.   • Organizing for Improving Rights of Female and Male Workers, funded by Olof Palme International Center. At impact level, we seek to contribute in achieving progress towards ensuring decent work for Palestinians, i.e. government adoption of progressive laws & policies, which will enable workers’ to realize their fundamental rights, & contribute to the elimination of all forms of discriminations, particularly gender-based discriminations in the world of work. Our specific objective (at outcome level) is to strengthen the representative & bargaining power of unions & their capacity to influence policies for gender & social equity. (01/01/2020-31/12/2024)
  • Decent work for Palestinian women in an environment free of violence and discrimination, funded by Peace and Solidarity Foundation – CCOO Catalonia. The project’s specific objective is to contribute to the right to decent work free of violence and on equal terms for women in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Among its results is that Palestinian women have actively participated in training and information and awareness sessions; organizations and workplaces have adopted zero-tolerance policies for violence & harassment.
  • Contributing to geneder justice and women’s human rights in the middle east, implemented by Peace and Solidarity Foundation – CCOO Catalonia. The specific objective of the project is to Promot the enforceability and accessibility of women’s right to a life free from violence at work. Result include: Improving the knowledge and advocacy of (people, workers and trade unions, women’s organizations, civil society organizations and the media) to eliminate violence and harassment against women at work, facilitate access to the right to justice, consultation and legal protection for rights holders, women victims of violence and discrimination at work, and increase the knowledge and ability to criticize, analyze, and act among rights holders, responsibilities holders, and duty bearers in the Palestinian society. (01/04/2023 – 31/03/2024)
  • Trade Union and Labor Training Days for Palestinian Trade Union Activists and Representatives, funded by FDHT. The main goals of the project is to strengthen the knowledge and skills of at least 60 union activists and representatives, and to support the unionization of women and their mobilization to claim their rights in the world of work.
