The National “My Right” Coalition, in partnership with the Democracy and Workers’ Rights Center and with implementation by Al-Firdaws Association for Women and Child Development, opened the “Women Creating Hope” Bazaar in Deir al-Balah. The opening was attended by representatives of the Chamber of Commerce in the Middle Area and Deir al-Balah Municipality, as well as local organizations and prominent community figures.
The bazaar aimed to support women’s economic empowerment and expand marketing opportunities for products made by women-led small businesses and cooperative associations. Amid the severe economic conditions in the Gaza Strip, the activity sought to strengthen women’s resilience and support their income-generating initiatives.
Over two days, 30 women and cooperative associations displayed a wide range of products, including food products, handicrafts, traditional embroidery and other items reflecting Palestinian women’s creativity, productivity and capacity for innovation.
The bazaar also featured awareness-raising activities, educational sessions and discussions on women’s economic empowerment, the importance of small businesses, and mechanisms for supporting and marketing locally produced goods. Recreational and interactive activities were also organized to create a supportive community space for participants and visitors.
The organizers emphasized the importance of continuing to support women-led small businesses and creating safe spaces and meaningful opportunities that enable women to strengthen their economic independence and contribute actively to community development.
The activity was implemented as part of the initiative “Empowering Women and Strengthening Their Economic, Social and Productive Roles in Conflict-Affected Communities,” carried out by Al-Firdaws Association for Women and Child Development in partnership with the National “My Right” Coalition under the EU-funded project “Partners for Equity, Partners for Change.”
